Guillain-Barré syndrome. T1-weighted postcontrast sagittal MR image of the cauda equina shows smooth, diffuse enhancement of the lumbar nerve roots. There is preferential involvement of the ventral roots, which is very suggestive of Guillain-Barré syndrome.
